Some Common Questions to Wilson Middle School's Counseling Office:
1. What is a homework buddy?
A homework buddy is a friend who helps you get your homework assignments.
One or Two-Day Absences
- Call a friend to get assignments. These homework buddies should be identified early in the school year prior to absences.
Extended Absence
- The parent or guardian may telephone the Counseling Office at 240-6800 ext. 19825, Mrs. Milligan, to request assignments when students are out of school for an extended period of time. Allow twenty-four hours for assignments to be collected. (Refer to page 3 of student's agenda book.)
2. Who is my counselor?
Mr. Shirley counsels Teams 6W, 7G, and 7W - 240-6800 Ext. 19806
Mr. Travis counsels Teams 6G, 8G, and 8W - 240-6800 Ext. 19816
3. How can I contact a teacher on my child's team?
You can email a teacher directly using the website for Carlisle School District -www.carlisleschools.org/home
Or when you access PowerSchool, click on the teacher's name to email. PowerSchool allows you to review student's grades 24 hours a day. https://powerschool.carlisleschools.org.
If you don't have your parent access log-on, please make arrangements to pick up your log-on at the Wilson office or through the Counseling Office.
4. How can I make an appointment with my child's team of teachers not during the parent conference times?
To schedule an appointment contact Mrs. Milligan, Counseling Secretary, at 240-6800 ext. 19825.
5. What are the criterias to be on Honor Roll or Distinguished?
On page 1 of the student agenda book: HONOR ROLL A student must have at least a B- in all classes (including but not limited to English, math, science, social studies, foreign language, reading, health, music, band/orchestra, PE, and Encore classes). Students who earn an A in all classes will qualify for distinguished honors.
Students who earn an F, D, C, W (withdrawn), I (incomplete) or X (no grade) will not qualify for either honor roll.
6. How am I notified that I made Honor Roll or Distinguished?
“Congratulations on making the Honor Roll!” or “Congratulations on making the Distinguished Honor Roll” is printed on your report card. In addition, the list is posted on the Wilson website.
The local newspapers, Sentinel, and the Patriot News place the list in the Community section as space is available. The trophy case in the Wilson lobby has a display for each grade level. Also, the students are recognized at assemblies with a certificate for the first, second, and third marking periods.
7. We just moved down the street into a new house. Should I notify the school?
Yes! Please drop by or contact the Counseling Office (240-6800 ext. 19825) or use the attached address change form. Thank you.
